Non-academic criteria:

Socioeconomic criteria: The Certificate is for students whose family background or circumstances mean that they are less likely to study health-related courses with competitive entry, or who are from backgrounds underrepresented in such courses. In judging this, we consider a number of factors. We require evidence of these factors, or confirmation of them from your school or college.
These factors include:
1) Being a first generation entrant to higher education
2) Being eligible to receive the Education Maintenance Award or equivalent, or (if over 18) being in receipt of a means-tested benefit
3) Family, cultural or financial reasons for needing to study in Lincolnshire or Nottinghamshire
4) Attending a school or college without a tradition of high academic achievement
5) Being a refugee, or in care
At least two of these or similar circumstances must apply to you. This list is not exhaustive. There is no one factor that makes an applicant automatically eligible or ineligible and we assess each applicant on an individual basis.
Work experience: It would be helpful to have some sort of work experience which can be used towards your personal statement and at interview.
Geographical criteria: There is no specific geographical criteria students are viewed equally from across the UK
Age restrictions: None
