A-levels and Equivalent QualificationsA levels in Chemistry and often Biology are an essential requirement for many universities. If you didn't sit these subjects originally, you might consider doing so now. Alternatively, there are courses available which offer equivalent qualifications or alternative entry routes for those without a science background. Follow the links below to find out more. 
| Doing A-levels is the most common academic route for getting into medical school. A-level courses can be undertaken even if you are not at school. | 
| Designed to widen access to medicine for students with non-science A levels or those from less privileged backgrounds. These courses are at least 6 years long. | 
| These courses are not qualifications in medicine but they may help with your application to a medical course if you do not have science qualifications. |
