Hi guys, I guess many of you have heard about the proposed changes to the MDAP application process for 2007 FY posts.

However, this is just rumour at the moment, nothing official seems to have been announced. Is anyone "in the know" able to give some idea when there will be an official announcement of the changes?

I've heard about the proposed changes from our BMA MSC rep at Southampton. I'll try and find out if he knows when the proposed changes to the current system will become offical and will be announced publicly.

We've heard that more weighting will be given to academic performance at medical school - is that what you've heard?

Hi Jeremy,

I went to a meeting this week which reported some new info:

the split between academic and non-academic points will be about 50:50

Half of the points for assessment will be awarded by the medical school

each school will devise their own system for ranking students (Warwick have already done this I believe)

students will be ranked into quartiles according to their school year and the higher your quartile, the more points you get

we will initially apply for a Foundation school then, if accepted by that school we will then apply for posts in it

the questions on the form we have to answer will be similar to last years

this is just a brief summary of the main points. Things are still not finalised but the application process (online) will kick off in November all being well.
