Course Guide for Graduates

There are 4 types of course available to applicants who already have a degree. Most universities require a 2.1 degree, although there are options for those with a 2.2. Use the links below to find out more.

Graduate entry programmes

Designed specifically for graduates, these courses are 4 years long.

Standard courses

Designed for school leavers with science A-levels, these courses also have places for graduates. These courses are 5 or 6 years long.

Foundation courses

Designed to widen access to medicine for students with non-science A levels or those from less privileged backgrounds. These courses are at least 6 years long.

Access courses

These courses are not qualifications in medicine but they may help with your application to a medical course if you do not have science qualifications.

If you have a 2.2 degree, your options are more limited. Click here to find out more about ways into medicine.

Graduate entry courses, standard medical courses and foundation courses all lead to the same qualification. All are recognised by the General Medical Council (GMC) and entitle you to practice as a doctor following registration.
