Course Guide for School LeaversThere are three different types of course for school leavers (i.e. A level students or equivalent).
| Designed for school leavers with science A-levels, these courses are 5 or 6 years long. |
| Designed to widen access to medicine for students with non-science A levels or those from less privileged backgrounds. These courses are at least 6 years long. |
| These courses are not qualifications in medicine but they may help with your application to a medical course if you do not have science qualifications. |
Standard medical courses and foundation courses all lead to the same qualification. They are recognised by the General Medical Council (GMC) and entitle you to practice as a doctor following registration. |
