| | Typical offers: | AAAb - All candidates must offer three A Level subjects and an additional distinct AS Level subject. Normally, you will need AAAb but if your school or college has a poor average performance for A levels and you have an above average performance for your school, you may be considered with lower grades. The school has a formula for calculating whether you may receive a lower offer than AABb on their website. Offers for some students may be as low as BBCb. | Chemistry: | Chemistry is only required to AS level as long as Biology is taken to A2 | Biology: | Biology is only required to AS level as long as Chemistry is taken to A2 | Other subjects: | Most other subjects are accepted as a third A2, provided you have at least 2 sciences at A2 | General studies: | Not acceptable | Entrance Exam: | UKCAT | Resit policy: | We do not accept candiates who are taking A Levels over three years but candidates may resit modules in years 12 and 13. | GCSE requirements: | 416 points from your top 8 subjects at GCSE including Maths, English and Dual Award Science or Single Sciences (i.e. an average grade of A). GCSE English Grade B or IELTS 7.0 (with no section less than 6.0). | | |

| | Scottish Highers: | St George's does not accept Scottish Highers alone for entry to medicine. Candidates should obtain AAAAB at Higher level (in one sitting) and these should include Chemistry, Biology, Mathematics and English. In addition, we ask for either three Certificates of Sixth Year Study (CSYS) or three Advanced Highers. Candidates must offer Chemistry and Biology plus one other subject (excluding General Studies) at CSYS or Advanced Higher and achieve or be predicted AAB at the first attempt. | International Baccalaureate: | Candidates must qualify for the full award of the Diploma (including Theory of Knowledge and Extended Essay). St George's will consider candidates with actual/predicted grades of 665 at Higher level and 555 at Standard level. Both Chemistry and Biology should be taken to Higher level or one subject to Higher and the other to Standard. Mathematics and English are also expected at least to Standard level. At application, it is essential that we are provided with full predictions/achieved grades for each subject as well as overall score. | Irish Leaving certificate: | We do not accept the Irish Leaving Certificate for entry into Medicine. If students have the Irish Leaving Certificate they would need to supplement it with either three A Levels or the first year of a degree (achieving at least 70%) from an Irish university. You also need to achieve the following in your leaving cert: 6 Highers at AAAAAB (in a single sitting) including Maths, English, Chemistry and Biology. Physics should also be taken if not present in Junior Certificate. | | |
