Resit policy:

In general we do not encourage applications from candidates who are resitting their AS or A2 levels, unless there are significant mitigating circumstances. However, we will occasionally accept applications from candidates who are repeating their A-levels if they previously held a conditional firm offer with us and there are major mitigating circumstances as to why they did not achieve the grades the first time round. Applications will only be considered if there is prior agreement from the admissions tutor. Our resit offer is AAA. An alternative would be to take a Biological Sciences or Health Science degree and apply for a shortened medical course. We strongly recommend that you consider this route.

GCSE requirements:

We do not specify a minimum number of A*grades at GCSE. However, we may need to take GCSE performance into consideration when selecting candidates for interview as competition for our places is so intense. Applicants must have achieved at least a grade C in English Language, Mathematics and Double Science.

Scottish Highers:

We are willing to consider applicants offering Scottish Advanced Highers either alone or in a combination with A-levels. Our standard offer is AAB to include Chemistry and Biology. We do not consider applicants only taking Scottish Highers.

International Baccalaureate:

The minimum level of 36 points, including Chemistry and Biology, plus one other subject at Higher level and 3 subjects at Subsidiary level is required. At least grade 6 is required in all subjects.

Irish Leaving certificate:

A grades in all subjects, including Chemistry, Biology, Maths and English with at least one other subject at higher level.
